What would be wrong to cover the entire pan of a trap? It doesn't seem to impede it.

Give Poly-fil a try. Its all I will fool with anymore. Just put a wad of it under the pan.

There is nothing wrong with it.. they make screen pan covers that just fit inside the jaws.. they cover everything.. but just the same.. I use the poly under the pan also.. works great..
