How should I do this to be successful? I have a few areas along some fields and roads that I would like to transport some honeysuckle to.
 
Dig up some runners where you see the little 'joints'...look like little roots. Dip in rootone and transplant. Best to make a cage to keep the deer from pulling it out of the ground. Or just take a whole lot of cuttings, spread them out on the area, and run over them lightly with a disk harrow. Honeysuckle is easy to transplant. One of the best things to do with it, is to make an inverted V device out of stock wire (I run it between a couple of trees, plant the honeysuckle inside the upside down V and close in the 2 ends. The deer can't pull it up and they can only eat what grows up thru the wire. I also plant it around brush slash piles after the loggers leave. With a little fertilizer it will quickly cover the log pile. Invasive plant but the deer love it so I take advantage of it when I can.

I bought some clothes line thats 25 ft from the camping section of Wal-mart. I think I'm going to string it up above some cut down trees and see if I can't get some birds to land there and transfer some seeds. I've read that birds a the reason most honeysuckle gets started. Hope it works!
