Transferring waypoints

For years I've been using the Garmin 9sv Stryker unit to mark waypoints. It does not have a slot to place a micro card in. So with hundreds and hundreds of waypoints saved If the unit goes bad I've lost them so I'm wanting to save them if possible I think I read where you could hook the brown wire to the blue wire and the blue to the brown on another unit and transfer the waypoints that way. Is this possible. Trying to prevent having to buy another unit and starting over
 
I'm not familiar with that equipment but I'd guess you could download the way points onto an SD card and then put them on a computer, on on another device.

I'll see what I can find out.

Can't download to SD card. Doesn't have a slot to put one in
