trail camera suggestions

OK, I don't like to spend a lot of money on anything (because I don't have it to spend), but I especially don't spend much on trail cameras. Yesterday, I pulled a camera that WILL NOT SHUT OFF! It's a Wildgame Innovations (I know), but really took some good pics the two years that it was working. Any suggestions on cameras in the similar price range that will give me more than a couple of years of service? I only have one other camera - a Moultrie and it is a dinosaur - and I have used it for almost 10 years I guess. It was not expensive either.

I have not had good luck with Covert. I also have an ancient Moultrie that still works. My next will be Moultrie or Browning.

I had a stealthcam that did well for over 5 years. It didn't do good last year though. I'm gonna throw some batteries in it today and see if she'll work. If not I'll be buying a cheapo as I have just acquired new land to hunt and have not set foot on it yet.

Moultrie A-5's for $60 have served me well. I have 5 of them. They are a pretty good camera for the price.

I understand the cost thing and tried to spend less. but if you can find a Reconyx at a good price buy it. I started at the cheapest from bass pro and kept returning them buying the next best and would've stopped if any worked as they should. In the long run you won't spend your money better than on a Reconyx..

I have 2 sent back to Reconyx now, way out of warranty, from what I can see of the updates they are giving the cost will be shipping them to them. I sent them in because they stooped working like a Reconyx and started acting like every other cam I've tried, so so.

I got mine for 395 new and inherited my brothers which was also 395. Tens of thousands of pics at a fifth of a second latter they need some work. You really can't spend a buck better.

I have a cuddeback LR and love it. The first two cameras I bought were made by Primos and stopped working within two years. The cuddeback I have now is in its third year now and still going strong as ever. Unless someone changes my mind, I won't buy anything else.

I have a wild view camera that's a decent camera also and I think u can get 2 online for $75

I have a covert black flash. It takes great picks. Only issue is at dusk when it switches from day mode to night mode, I get a few whiteout pics. Once it gets dark enough the night pics are good. Day pics are great. I am thinking about trying a Browning next tho. I heard they are awesome.

How long they is yet to be determined, but I bought 2 this morning cause they are flash sale again.

Reconyx is still the best, but they are cams out now getting really close for less. Check out the 2016 trailcampro flash challenge on game cams. I've gotta save up, but the muddy pro cam 12 looks very interesting for the $ and black flash

Nothing more than a Browning clone. My buddy just bought one at BPS for $99.99 (Fall Hunting Sale), anxious to see what he thinks about it a year from now. The best use of one's funds is to buy once, cry once and purchase Reconyx. If the new $600 black flash models are too pricey (which I can understand), then buy used from eBay where you can get blackflash models for $400ish and white flash models for $350ish. They will serve you well for many years and the worst that can happen is you have to send it in for repairs, which are typically no more than $50. I have purchased three used HC 600s and they have performed like new thus far.

I like my stealthcams so far. I have 2 different models and I gave less than $100 for each.

I've had 3 moultries, 3 scoutguards, 2 stealth cams, a wildgame innovations crush, and a new black ops browning im trying out this year, they've all lasted 3-4 years so far, one Moultrie locked up after 3 months though and another only takes pics only half the time a deer triggers it, they had bad customer service and didn't help out other than giving a little discount on a new one.

Reconyx. Call me crazy, but over the long haul, considering batteries, shipping costs for malfunctioning cameras and "opportunity" cots (checking a camera to see it did not take a single pic), Reconyx is the least expensive camera on the market. I'll never go back to a Chinese camera.
