I live on about 140 acres of mostly hills and forest. There is about 5 acres of this cedars that seperates my house from the highway. Little to no pressure in that patch of woods, well my wife had been hearing something move through there at night time. I decided yesterday to put a trail cam up over there...I made a mock scrape and set camera up. While doing so, my uncle says he saw a huge buck coming running out of there as I was making my way in to set the camera. If this is a bedding area/safeplace, do any of you think I may have scared him off for good?.

Not for good . Chances are he has smelled you before if its that close . You just got too close for his comfort . If its been safe for him he will most likely return. Now , with that being said , sometimes they will avoid the camera after one pic , or if they get too much human scent in the area where you were setting up the camera. The big ones are a different breed altogether .

Mature bucks aren't going to run away because they came into contact with a human one time. I wouldn't go check the camera for a while though.

Okay guys thannks, I didnt hear him blow or anything, I made sure to block my scent best I could, I planned on leaving it there for about 2 weeks or so before checking
