It was standard in 1967 but was optional around 1959-1960

So the rounded ones are older?

In most cases. But like I said there were a few years it was optional.

Gotcha! Had a light twelve and sweet sixteen that were not round that belonged to my grandfather. Ended up with the same 2 and the 20 ga from a relative and I think 2 are rounded and had never seen that. Gave my grandfather's to my brother.

That is the same (model) shotgun I've hunted with over the past fifty years. It still closes like a bank vault, but much of the blueing is a thing of the past.
