a buddy of mine has a blue ruger 44 mag black hawk he is wanting to trade for my stainless 357 mag 686 smith and wesson , i was kinda toying around with the idea only because i was looking for a side arm to go with my 44 marlin rifle . what yall think ??

IMO, conditions being equal, your 686 is worth at least 150.00 more than the BlackHawk.

I agree here totally. Get you at least $150 boot. If your 686 is the Plus model better get $250 boot. JMHO

Trade is of equal value. 686 & Blackhawk can both be bought all day long for $400-$500. I just purchased a perfect 44 Blackhawk Stainless Hunter 7 1/2 with rings for $500 this week. The true value of guns is how bad you really want it. Both of these are exceptional firearms. Look on gunbroker or GOC and you can get some great deals if willing to wait. Good luck on trade.

thanks guys ,he bought the ruger over today and it is the older model and does not have the built in scope mounts . so i am going to pass on the trade . thanks guys

Not even close in my neck of the woods. If I want a Black hawk I would expect to pay 350-400. A 686 I would have a hard time finding under 500. Sure they come up for sale cheaper every now and then but it does not happen enough to establish that a the true value of the gun.

I spend close to 20 hours per week on a half dozen gun sites and have NEVER seen a 686 for $400.$500-$600 is common. Blue Blackhawks for $350-$400 all day long for sure.
