Tough bite Saturday

Started out trying to open water snipe crappie with live minnows.
Wouldn't touch them.
Caught them all with the 1" berkley gulp minnow


I had:
19 bream kept 12
22 crappie kept 3
1 throwback shellcracker

My buddy had:
22 bream kept 10
22 crappie kept 2
2 shellcracker kept 1
1 throwback bass

My buddy also caught his biggest crappie ever. 12 3/4"
Didn't weigh it but it was a nice keeper. Pretty good fish for the lake we were fishing actually.

We fished from 7:00 Friday evening to 4:30 Saturday morning and caught 6 bass. They were all between 3-4 lbs. Granted we fished a lot of "new" water but still should have caught more than that. Had some buddies do the same thing on a different section of the lake and had the same results.

Not usually at night. Caught 28 keepers last Saturday night and several short fish.

I think i finally figured them out today. All blow downs were absolutely stacked. Just found them late. Thursday morning will be on them at sunup!

I'm thinking seriously about taking Friday off myself.
