They have many of these and most are able to function without any service, just your GPS location. Does anyone have a good app that shows all the contours of a topo that they like? Id like to have one where I can put my climber in a new place and mark a pin and just walk straight to it in the dark. I'm hunting some areas this year that I'm not very familiar with.

There's several out there, i like trimble outdoors because it allows you make roads or trails that you can follow.
i've also used Actinature but its changed to geo-pak which i havent used to much yet......... but it allows others that hunt with you to sync info so they can have what you have.......... or not (u can make non public secret spots).
I have hunt stand also, i like the way you can measure areas....... i also use primos wind checker........
 
For topo maps I use Trimble outdoors, but they discontinued it this past April. My app still works right now, but I don't expect that to always be the case (no updates, no bug fixes, etc).
 
I use Gaia GPS as a backup for hiking/backpacking. It's a bit more expensive, but has lots of functionality. You can download the map sections to use when no service is available.

I didn't realize that they had discontinued the Trimble app. Thanks for pointing that out, as I don't want to invest in putting scouting information into something that won't be there down the road.
 
thanks for update Andy S. i checked on Trimble outdoors site and phone number disconnected.......... and link to see what add ons they suggest for comperable sites does not work........... I really liked that site too.
