I took out my HMR in 6.5 CM, Timber in 6.5 and Timber in .270.

I knew the Timber in 6.5 was a shooter but this is the first time I had taken out the HMR and .270. All groups are 5 shot groups. These rifles are just absolutely fantastic for sub $1000 factory guns. Timbers are actually under $800 Can't wait to put some premium ammo through the 270 to see what it does.

Great shooting! Glad the hmr is shooting well. What scope did ya put in it?

For now, it has a Vortex Viper HS Long Range

I may put an upgraded trigger in it but the factory trigger is actually really good. Thanks again!

Those are some impressive 5 shot groups. Those 270 fusions didn't group well in my Bergara.
I have some 130 gr accubonds ready to load up and test, hopefully get some respectful groups with H4831sc.

What size/brand base and rings did you go with? Is there good clearance under the end of your scope?

The HMR has warne low rings on it and has plenty of clearance, even with a scope cap on it. The one Timber has Seekins precision, 1" rings and the other Timber has Warne Medium rings.

What do you think about the new ridge coming out? I love the 24" barrel they're putting on it. I wish they'd do the same on the HMR.

You can buy an HMR with a 24" barrel as an exclusive from Bass Pro but nowhere else. I do agree that a 24" tube on the HMR would be sweet if it were more readily available.

I think the Ridge looks like a great gun and will sell well but it is just not for me. I am not a fan of heavy barrels on hunting rifles I guess. The #3 barrel on the hunter is plenty for me for a hunting rifle and I like the HMR for a bench rifle that you could use for hunting in very specific situations. Carrying it to a shooting house wouldn't be bad but toting it around all day would get heavy quick.

I am sold on the B14 Timbers. They are my favorite by far although I may be looking at an HMR in 22-250 when they come out.
