I could pack more than this but, the important ones to me are the weapon, knife, phone, camera, tripod, cushion (ground hunting) and usually something to eat. Sometimes a grunt call but this year I may not even care to bring one. We'll see, got a lot ahead...

If I can't carry it in a couple pockets, it is too much. I'm going hunting for a few hours, not ona an expedition.

I overpack. I usually carry a backpack full and a small fanny pack. I never know when I may decide to stay all day if deer are moving.

I carry a shoulder bag with a drink and snack, a knife and folding saw, and everything else I "might" need while out in the woods. I usually never need anything else unless I leave it in the truck. I guess I'd rather have it than make another trip back and forth.

I usually just carry everything in my pockets depending on what season it is, archery muzzleloader or gun. I leave the rest in the truck. Small bottle of scentaway, knife, bottle of water, and grunt call are always with me. Cell phone and binos are a given also.

I carry a shoulder pack with a buck knife & a Gerber knife, binoculars, grunt & bleat calls, water bottle, snacks, license, tie wraps & cell phone on mute. I also have my summit climber. I love the quiet time in my treestand in the morning while it's still dark and I hear nothing but the sounds of the forest. Life is good but God is gooder. Praise him every chance you get.

I might need a few things out here. But, not for a few hours in the deer woods.

Knife, matches, field dressing gloves, binocs, grunt tube, couple of flashlights. [Not much fun when a flashlight suddenly goes dead on the way out of the woods] bottle of sport drink, a snack or two. And plenty of toilet paper!!!! TP comes in handy for marking a blood trail, cleaning the blood off your hands and of course the obvious reason.

MG Tex, that's more than I carry for a week in the mountains or a night at a drive in movie.

Seriously, I just took inventory.

Early season: Small knife, tp, maybe water bottle. The rest is just the stuff you need to make that bow thing work and kill.

Late season: same as above except no water and I add disposable hand warmers, chap stick.

Out West: Enough to spend 1-2 days in the Mtns. and survive. It all goes in a small back pack.

Lol, John. Yeah I probably carry around too much "stuff" especially now that I only hunt around the house. But old habits are hard to break, and after a fall out of a tree 200 miles from home and hunting by myself many years ago [yeah I know, shoulda had my safety belt on] I don't plan on spending a night in the woods without the means of building a fire and an extra flashlight or two again.
BTW, your the one who taught me the importance of a deer call, even had you run me into town to buy one of those new fangled calls. Don't remember the name of it but it was a two piece deal that you didn't even have to blow. Even called in a few stupid deer with the thing.
Hmmm, drive in movies...........not been to one of those in ages, bout the only thing I took to one of those was my girlfriend and a six pack of Schlitz.

I have a fanny pack that holds my essentials. Tree stand on back. Bow in hand. That's how I roll. The KISS method works best for me.

Leg pack.
Knife, rubber gloves, flashlight, drag strap, brite eyes, TP,(rolled up) head net, mini glove, face mask, lighter, and a bright stick light that I use to hang on a limb over the deer on night drags (makes it REALLY easy to take all my gear back to the truck and return in the dark, sometimes a mile away. Also clippers.
Hanging on the pack is a saw and a small video camera.

I am pretty sure the actual leg pack weighs as much as the stuff inside.

That two-piece call was a Woods Wise friction call. Still the most accuarte call made and my go-to call today.
Yep, that's the one. Unfortunatly mine went missing years ago and I can't find another one to replace it. It was a good call, and sounded just like "social talk" of deer.

Oversized Fanny Pack essentials, little First Aid Kit, TP, Harness, Saw, Water, Crackers, Small Flashlight and extra Batteries.

On my person, Knife, Phone, spare Release.

In the 4 Wheeler, bigger flashlight, bigger First Aid Kit, more water & food, Rain Gear unless I pack that in.

How many carry a Belt Cutter?

I only take what will fit in my pockets. No pack. I am seldom more than an hours walk from the vehicle. I find this helps me focus on deer and not gear. I enjoy hunting a little more when i take a little less. I usually carry an apple, knife and cell phone and gutting tools - that's it.
