Too early to plant clover?

I'm thinking of planting some this weekend. It has rained for the past 3-4 days and they are calling for rain 8 of the next 10 days. Who knows what after that, but is it too early to plant some clover this weekend?
 
You know, I have been comptemplating on doing a little early planting myself. Have got 4 plots that are down in the bottoms that should be okay, even if we do hit a late August dry spell. Will hold off on the higher ground ones for a while though.

Who knows, might get lucky and have a few killer plots for bow opener....
 
yea i planted clover and chicory in my fav. bowstand spot on wed.. hope it holds up been gettin a lot of good rain as long as the aug heat stays down we'll be just fine fellas... i believe its worth a gamble.. i'm goin to overseed bout the end of aug ...wondering what i could overseed with... not using winterwheat this year bc it drowned out my clover last year.. any help is greatly apprecitated.. i planted the evolve clover plus chicory that comes premixed.. so help me out

My plot is on top of a mtn. It is in real thick woods so it stays cool. I'll probably give it a go Sat. morning. It is a small bow only plot, so if it is too early I'm not out too much and can replant it.
 
yea thats the same thing i was thinkin when i planted mine i'm lookin to maybe sow some forage oats to go with my chicory and clover

Crap shoot guys ...your thinking about planting about a month early....I know its tempting with these mild temps and rain...but August may very well be 109 degrees and will quickly burn out any new sprouts....Its your money.

Especially perennial clover/chicory,. it takes a good 45 to 60 days for it to establish a stable root system.
 
went and checked the plot of chicory and clover i sowed on wed.. and its come up nice and very green... just hope it makes it.. deer tracks were everywhere.. i'm excited..
 
I have some of the same mix that I got for free...I plan on planting plots in mid september anyways so Im going to throw it out and hope for the best. if it takes opening of bow season in KY ought to be super! if not im not out anything.
 
heck yea im in greene county and both my clover plots are up and lookin good just need mother nature on our side for the next month haha.. pics comin soon..
 
Went ahead and rolled the dice.
Planted 13 bow plots yesterday; will hold off for a while and see what the weather does before doing the other 10 that we have...
 
i got some bad bermuta problems in my clover plots its been about 5 years since i planted them ,still some clover in them ,but i think im going to start over. im going to try and wait to plant till sept ,but i will start spraying this weekend hopefully.
