One of my big issues is that I never have trouble finding deer there, I just have trouble finding a buck I wanna shoot. They seem to be in hiding when I get there lol.
 
Chuck Swan is a 600 person muzzleloader draw hunt this Friday and Saturday. My son and I got drawn, hopefully with all the people the deer will be moving. I'm not a fan of the mile long backup at the gate every morning. The gravel dust is awful when they let everyone in. I know EHD went thru pretty bad a few years ago but hopefully the deer have rebounded.

That's why I am showing up at exactly 6:10. The way in should be pretty clear lol. I can also avoid people because I know where they will all be. I have found out no matter where you are in that mess somehow someone always ends up pulling in right beside you and fussing cause you're already there.
 
The worst thing you can do is keep hunting a spot that doesn't have deer.... stick a cell cam in the middle of it, leave it alone and hunt somewhere else, then go back to your original spot when something shows up you want to hunt.
 
I would definitely go, you have the permit and your not seeing deer at your normal place so you have zero to lose. You are probably dead on about driving in a little later and avoiding the big race , that way you can just avoid others pulling in with you and get away from the crowd. Good luck !

Im not going now. Buck counts toward statewide limit and I only have one left for gun season, but I ain't much help anyway lol. I might know a guy that will be there sat. Just DM me and I'll see if he can help
 
I quit putting in on it when it went to state wide limit, got there at 1:30am 1 time, I was the 2nd truck there but they started filling in quickly, 10 minutes before they unlocked the gate a car passed everybody up and left 2 guys out at the truck in front of me, I might've let the air out of a tire or 2 had I known 🤣

I left today at 6pm and the board had 33 total deer killed with the biggest a 144lb 9 point. I saw 3 does in 2 days. 33 out of 600 draw is around 7 percent success I believe.

Correction: it's 650 quota and equals 5 percent.
