To Much food

Is there such a thing as to much food for deer on a given property?

I would imagine it all depends on how the land is laid out and what's surrounding you. It would seem that too much food would be similar to too much cover but I'd rather have that problem and be able to see deer than too much cover and never be able to see anything. Either way, the food factor ought to be a great drawing card as long as you also have adequate cover to hold the deer on your property. You'll do that even without the cover but once the hunting pressure starts they'll have come and gone by daylight.

Too much food can be a problem if you over inflate the capacity of the land then for whatever reason (drought, stop planting ect.) the food source goes away. You have a high density of animals with not enough food.

Exactly. Other than that, no, too much food is not a problem for the deer, only tougher for the hunter trying to pattern those deer. But I wouldn't mind having the problem of too much food!

I hunt occasionally with a guy who has persimmons everywhere.Never seen anything like it,when they are dropping and the deer are on them,it is a real crap shoot,they move all around,no pattern at all.
