To fertilize wheat/rye in winter?

does that make much of a difference? i did not fert in winter last year and plots worked well into summer. will they be signifigantly better with a winter re fertilizing?

YEP,.. does mine. When the plot starts looking bad due to nitrogen being pulled from the soil,. it keeps them green and growing thru december til march greenup. Most grains will get a yellowish look to it when nitrogen is pulled,.. 34-0-0 will prevent this from happening..
