Yesterday I made a run up to my deer/turkey lease in Stewart Co to check on things and confirm the zero on my turkey gun. After watching storm after storm go through that area for the past several days, I was not going to be surprised if my trailer was "gone with the wind". I got there and everything was fine, got to watch two birds strut, and my shotgun didn't need much tinkering.

On the long drive back last night, I got to thinking about the lease which came about through a TNdeer hookup. I then started thinking about the number of folks I count as friends that have come directly from this site. I came to the conclusion driving home that there are probably more people I consider important in my life that I have met through here than from any other area. Yes, I am certainly blessed with friends from school, workplaces, church, etc, but TNdeer probably holds the highest percentage.

The blessings from this site were even more confirmed this afternoon. A few weeks ago I got on here trying to find a Bill Littleton box call that I had been wanting for many years. After talking directly with Bill, I found out he no longer makes them, and had no idea where I might find one. This afternoon jman 125 walked into the shop and handed me one. I certainly can't run it like he did, but I can promise that it will be with me when I hit the turkey woods hopefully on Saturday. And, as much as I wanted that little call, getting to talk turkey with a true gentleman was even better than getting the box.

Yup have met some great people on this site over the years and have more then a few "just help someone else if you have the chance" gifts from people.

Heck one of my best friends today I met by chance when he was moving to my town years ago and was just asking questions on here about it. Ended up meeting up when he got here and have been good buddies since.

Once again i really enjoyed the talk with you today and hopefully someday real soon we can pick that conversion up under a big oak working a bird or over a deer hunt.
I jave learned that god puts people you need in your life and i do truly believe that call was ment for you and whoever you decide to pass it down to. Glad i could make it happen and as i said before you have my number and i will be there if you need me. Have a great night and hopefully soon we can carry our conversation further

I've been around here for 20 years now and have met a bunch of good folks. There's lots more I haven't met but feel like I know them. Best of luck and maybe just maybe an ole Tom will strut his way to the end of your gun barrel coming to the sweet sounds of that call Saturday morning.
 
For the most part, like minded people here, and that's what makes it special I think. Have met a few & count many others as friends. Drove all the way to WY last year to hunt with 3 guys from here that I'd never personally met before. Immediately felt like old friends! Can't imagine doing that with any other social media group. BTW, some of my family & local friends thought I was crazy for doing it 🤣
 
Haven't met a bad member yet over the years. Been to a few Vous's, a hunt or two, and too many classifieds meetings with strangers on the side of the road to count. One of the best places to argue on the internet! :)
 
Steve - great reflection and testimony my friend. Many of us think the exact same about you, and MANY others on this forum. As for Cliff, I'm not the least bit surprised in his actions. I had some great phone calls with him few years back when he was building his smokeless, but would like to meet him one day soon. I'll eventually get up to Dickson County and cross paths with him. Thanks for sharing Steve.
