A friend and I are thinking of going to Pickwick Sunday to target smallmouth. Plan on using live bait. What depth of water should we target? Any hints or tips would be appreciated.

Really anywhere up near the dam is good for shiner drifting. Try all of the bluff walls and the big eddies that come around the island. As far as water depth with drifting shiners there is only 2 ways to go. Either free line them completely or put a splitshot sinker a little ways up from the hook to get it to the bottom. Hope this helps and hope you catch one of those monsters.

bowhunter, very simple suggestion here but sometimes over-looked: make sure you and your buddy start out fishing different depths when your casting to the same bank. This will cut your time in half figuring the depth out and hey, your a fisherman, you gotta 'use' your fishing buddies all you can.
