All I can say is wow.I bought and installed my first one recently and finally was able to test fire it.I'm going to tell you I've been living under a rock,There is no comparison whatsoever with a factory trigger and that thing.It is smooth,I love it.
 
Yes I still can't believe it.I always considered myself pretty good shooting,no expert but I normally hit what I shoot at,but I cannot express how clean this trigger breaks compared to the factory trigger

The only thing that I don't like about a Timney is the wide trigger shoe. I prefer the thin shoe of a Jewell but that's just me. Pops has shot both rifles that have Jewells in them and he didn't like the thin shoe (and he didn't much care for the 1 lb. pull either :grin:). To each his own though.
 
I can see where a nice trigger pull is a must.... like on a Encore..they suck.
My trigger pull is nice on my Remmy and like glass on my Winchester.... I guess I've been living under a rock also...
Guess I need a updated trigger.
Hummm... all these costs.
How much are these triggers?
 
My Remington trigger has been adjusted, so it's nice.... but the recall scares me... I'm updating it on both Remmys
The worst trigger I have ever witnessed is on an Encore.

Granted its not a bolt gun but the trigger on one of my H&Rs was 9 lbs and CREEEEEEPY before I polished it. That's the worst one I've owned.

She's 2.5lbs and crispy now.
 
Have a couple of there triggers and or springs for factory triggers really like them.
 
I have adjusted the triggers on all of my model 7's and they are nice. The h&r 7-08 trigger stinks. The h&r trigger on my 25-06 is ok but still could use some improvement.

Wow 12 oz. You just have to think about squeezing that one to fire.

I wouldn't think a light trigger would be unsafe. Hopefully safety is on?
 
I had a gunsmith set all my triggers to feel the same. Some are at 2.5, one is at 3.1. You cannot tell which rifle you are shooting

The worst trigger I have ever touched is a Savage Axis. It took so much pressure to squeeze the trigger the fore end of the plastic stock bowed and the cross hairs went mayb2 two inches off the bulls eye.
 
I like the Jewell in my Stiller 6.5 but thinking about the new Timney Calvin Elite for my 700 PSS,,I think the smoothest factory trigger I ever used is in the Sako TRG42,,

My cousin just bought a Sako TRG22. I was very impressed for a factory trigger.
 
I have an old 1957 Brno Model 4 22LR Target rifle that has a John Langely 1.5 ounce trigger and is the lightest/smoothest trigger I ever owned,,it is better than the Jewell
 
One of the two worst triggers I have owned is my old Marlin 336 35 Remington which had a 8.5lb pull until I put a Wolf hammer spring in it which reduced it down to 4.25. I can live with that for a deer rifle with no problem. Number two is a Springfield 840 (cheap version of the Savage 340) chambered in 30-30 which has a truly terrible trigger too. I've never put a scale on it that I can recall but it has creep galore. You just never know when it's going to fire. :) But then I just paid $60 for it as a high school kid so expectations were low.

My lightest trigger is a Shilen match trigger set a 1.5lbs on a Remington 700 ADL in 25-06. For deer hunting I think I prefer the factory trigger. It was in the low 3lb range and creep free. The 1.5lb Shilen is perfect for shooting prairie dogs on a hot Summer day but I can't safely feel it with gloves on. That forces me to hunt gloveless when deer hunting which can lead to some cold fingers!

I put a standard Timney on a surplus model 98 Mauser several years ago and was amazed at how it transformed the rifle for less than $30. (Yeah, $30. And it wasn't all THAT long ago either that it was that cheap - maybe 12 or so years??) It's not equal in feel to the Shilen, which cost 4 or 5 times as much, but you are definitely going past the point of diminishing returns on your money spent when buying a more expensive trigger than a Timney.

The factory trigger in my Remington 40X Rangemaster bench rifle is a real pleasure to shoot too. Since those rifles come from the Remington custom shop, everything about them is set up to perform right out of the box.
 
My Weatherby Mark V 460 also has a real smooth trigger. Not real sure how much the pull is. Probably mid 3lb range. But no grit or creep at all. Honestly, who would want a 460 with a light trigger? You don't want discharge until you are ready for it. :)

Again, this rifle comes from the Weatherby custom shop so it should represent the best the Weatherby factory trigger design is capable of.

For most hunters, I'd say a trigger less than 3 lbs is unsafe. That's one reason it sort of worries me to have a rifle with less pull weight because if something happened to me, some inexperienced shooter might end up with a potentially unsafe gun. Sort of like what my friend mentioned about having 45 Colt reloads around for his Ruger single action revolvers. Loads safe in those pistols are definitely not safe in a Colt SAA or any of the copies but they look exactly the same. He has marked all his ammo boxes clearly "Not for COLT SAA" and lectured his family but you still can't help but worry some about it.

Getting back to light triggers, the 1.5lb trigger I have is way too light for somebody who is a hunter 1st and a shooter 2nd. They are going to get "trigger bit" sooner or later. We all know that it shouldn't be done, but how many hunters raise their rifle to look through their scope to see what some distant object is? It's entirely likely that some will have their finger touching the trigger when doing so. You can't even hardly feel a 1.5 lb trigger and it's entirely possible they could fire the rifle accidentally.
