I replaced my factory trigger on a Remington 700 Mtn rifle.I'm worried it was pretty simple and I had no problems,this scares me because I normally run into issues when doing gun repairs.Is it really that simple?
 
Since you don't have to worry about the sear spring falling out of the Timney trigger like you do with a factory trigger it's a pretty straight forward job. Just make sure your bolt release isn't binding and you're good to go.
 
I replaced mine in my Rem 700 and had not done much gunsmithing before. It was really easy although I spent 30-45 minutes doing it because I was trying to understand everything as I went along. The old trigger fell apart which worried me and took some time until I realized I didn't need any of the parts that fell apart. Like Rubberduck said, my bolt release was binding a little and I needed to shave a little wood. I'm real pleased with the trigger. This is a good job for the average person to do.

When replacing a trigger assembly and especially if you are setting the poundage light, test it thouroly for slam fires and bump fires. Just FYI: be safe!
 
Yep, it is fairly easy. I know, because I did one on a remmie 700 ADL from mid-80s and believe it or not, it works.

Understand, I can take really nice oak and turn it into miserable firewood. I was over 45 years old before i finished a plumbing job that did not leak first time we turned the water on.

I have a supposedly finished stock that is NOT finished. For three years I've had that stock.

So yeah 7, if I can do it, it has to be easy and straightforward.
 
I put a Shilen trigger in my 700 ADL several years ago and I remember having a problem with the safety. You had to put the factory safety on the Shilen trigger. It required so much force to get the lever over the detent ball that I just knew something was going to break and it had to be wrong. I called Shilen and asked about this and they said that it was normal and to keep pushing until it went together. I did and it worked fine. End result was a very consistent 1 1/2 lb trigger. Probably went a bit too far for a hunting rifle but it sure lets you shoot groups with no trigger problems.
