June 24, time to switch to night fishing. Swap tackle boxes and heading out Monday to hit the roadbed and see how many jigs I can lose on the stumps.

Y'all ever notice how spooky a blacklight is on a foggy night? Can't see the boat or anything, just that purple glow against the fog.
 
Went out on priest last night and tonight, not very much luck. 4-5 small ones both nights. What type of lure do you recommend for night fishing (bass of course). From reading online, sounds like blue then switch to black worms? Not much experience fishing at night so any pointers would be appreciated!
 
Sledom fish worms buit do occasionaly. Most fish jigs and tube lures in black and blue or black and red or black and green.
 
Two rods ready to go. I usually prefer a larger, Colorado blade on my spinnerbaits.

So you can see to some extent, especially your line and it doesn't spook the fish. They are also a safety measure to some extent as other boats can see you.
 
Nighttime is a good time to fish, but on Priest the daytime (when it the HOTTEST) is the best time to fish. Less fishermen on the lake and if you can find them, the fish school up really well and you can catch them much better than you can at night.

If you want smallmouth... use Fox Hair jigs!!!!

I don't know why, but I KNOW smallmouth prefer hair jigs over rubber or any other variety. It took me takin' a "whoppin'" on the lake on night from my brother-in-law many years ago to learn it... but now I know it to be true.

On our way to the lake I was trash talking about "rubber jigs being just as good as hair." He boated a half-dozen quality smallies while I had failed to get a sniff. He made me get on my knees and beg for a hair jig before he'd give one up and said, "If you lose that one, I start charging $5 apiece for them."
 
I always prefered the bear hair but can't seem to get them anymore. Loved to fish them wityh a U-two pork trailer.Haven't tried fox hair. Send me a half-dozen and I'll try them out. You do still provide all the tackle, don't you?

Football Hunter, I know what you mean, I love to fish a rainy day, but definitely is not needed. The hotter, the better other than being miserable because of the heat, but that does not bother the fish bite.
