My wildgames aren't cutting it anymore and need something new. Trying to have a $150 budget but will go over. Leaning towards covert, moultrie, or a browning. Looking for something THAT WILL LAST, good customer service if I have problems, and most importantly one that has a good transition time between daylight and dark

I was in the same situation with the garbage wildgames....i went with the browning brand and they have good reviews...its been out for 4 weeks havent checked it yet but others on here have just search browning strikeforce

I have several coverts and like them but recently purchased a browning black ops. I haven't checked it since I put it up in the woods but was impressed with the pictures it took in the three days I set it up in the house.

For $150 price point, I'd suggest Covert from my experience and Browning Dark Ops from other people's reviews and some online research I've done. Both have good customer service too.

I've heard Coverts have a problem with water leaking in?
I am not aware of a "systemic" problem with Coverts leaking, although I would never rule out an isolated camera or two leaking. Maybe some more Covert owners will weigh in if they have had cams that leaked.

I agree and will add that at the $150 price point, you'll get more with the Browning Dark Ops than the Covert.
Here's why:
The Browning Dark Ops is overall closest in comparison to the Covert Black 60. While I won't say the Dark Ops is overall better than the Black 60, I will say it's better than the less expensive Covert models you can easily find for less than $150. You'll need a bit of luck to find a Black 60 for $150, while that's the going price for the Dark Ops.

I had a covert black 60 leak on me. Called covert, sent it in and they didn't replace it with just a newer model but a 3G cellular camera. I was pleased to say the least.

Let me rephrase that.... I can't justify a reconyx for what I need. If I was a lotto winner I would buy them.

If it were me, I would buy the Stealth G42, which can be had for about $120. I love mine. I also own the Coverts and the Browning and I like them a lot, but Stealth really hit a home run with the G42. The 200+ reviews on Amazon speak for themselves.

How long have you had your Stealth? Has it proved itself for 6 months or 3 years for you? A few years back some friends of mine bought several Stealths on a whim and none lasted more than a year before they failed. I realize manufacturing changes and some models are better than others, this why I'm asking the question about that models longevity?

That's a good price for a Black 60, but seeing it's a 2012 model (been lots of upgrades since then), not so sure it's a great deal when compared to the 2014 and later Black 60 units. But you can often get better deals on last year's model of any brand/make, and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a 2014 Black 60 over a 2015 if the 2014 model saved a few dollars at purchase.

I don't buy trail camera models that have been out for more than two years, unless they are on closeout at a killer price. After two years most of them have become antiquated in terms of features and technology. The G42 has been out for about a year.

Stealth was putting out crap for a while and their reputation went in the toilet. The G42 is part of a totally updated product line that is performing much better than their older garbage.

264 user reviews and almost a 5-star rating, so many others seem to be having a good experience so far.

When I bought the Browning Dark Ops a while back some people here thought it was way too new and unproven to take a chance on. Now its a favorite of others. I like my G42 a little better than my Dark Ops and quite a bit better than my MP8's.

Also, it's become apparent to me that the warranty period doesn't necessarily have to be a big concern if you have the right temperament and are persuasive enough. One of the guys on our lease has mastered the art of raising hell on the phone and getting cameras replaced when they are a year or two past the warranty. The man has talent, lol.

Covert 60 is on its way boys, $50 over budget for a quality camera is worth it. Hoping for the best. My wildgames are driving me crazy!

I had one of those old model Wildgames that is like the "Hunten" cameras now. It lasted for YEARS! My new one didn't make it long, but it really wasn't the cameras fault. My friend's cows found it and used it as a scratching post. :(
