Time change

Being that I get to my stand this time of year close to an hour before light. A couple years ago, the time changed and I got up in my stand. Yes this was 2 hours before light!!! I thought the sun was never going to come up. I got on my phone to check news channels to see if some earthly event had taken place :D

I've been getting up very very early this season so the time change will have very little effect on me getting up.

Finally, the first year in many that I've been able to take advantage of that "extra hour of sleep." Most years, I'm hunting on that weekend and I just have to get up an hour earlier.

I got plans to hunt one spot this evening after work. Scheduled toget off work at 4 which puts me in the stand right before prime time, cutting it too close. Just realized that this morning. Guess I'm gonna work hard as I can and try to get off early. The NE wind is good for that location

It blows my mind at the amount of people that don't understand the time change. If you are just a casual sleeper and wake up whenever your body wakes up, you don't gain an hour of sleep.

Example: If your a person that falls a sleep and 9 hrs is what you generally sleep on your normal sleep in days, then your only going to sleep 9 hrs not 10. You don't gain an hour of sleep. Now, you gain one more hr of awake time that day, but then again, if you go to sleep tonight just when your tired, then you don't gain that either. Only if you go to bed at a designated time do you gain the extra awake hour.

If your a hunter and you awake by sunrise, then you neither gain an hr, nor lose an hr. you get the same amount of sleep.

If your a person with a designated time to awake for work, church, or any designated time event, then you are the only type person who takes advantage of the extra hr of sleep, that is if your body doesn't get fully charged and wake you before your designated awake time. Example: you have to get up at 5:00 for work, you go to bed at 10:00, normally you get 7 hrs, time change allows you to gain the 8th hr.

Jcdeerman, if your implying that you forgot that it was time change, and you got up like you had normally been to go hunting, based on say 4:30, gets daylight at 6:30, and your clock changed accordingly to time change, then you would've been an hour later, which would've put you in the stand at daybreak.

If you forgot of time change and never changed clocks, and you awoke normally as you usually did the day before, you would've got in the stand just as you planned, 1 hr before daybreak. If clocks are never changed, the sun still rises at the exact time it did the day before, minus 3 mins or so

The trick is to have two watches, one set for real time, one for deer time. Hunt by the one for deer time, do everything else in realtime. This spring, just reverse them for turkeys.

I hate time change. Wish it would stay like this, I do not like Daylight savings time. Like this, you get an hour more of daylight to hunt before church, work, school, whatever you do. That is just me, I would rather hunt/fish in the mornings no matter what I am trying to catch, kill, or eat.

And you only gain an extra hour of sleep say if your trying to make church at 11 and you have to wake up at 9. If your a hunter its the same.

And it is impossible to be 2 hours early for hunting if you don't plan the time change, unless you are turkey hunting in the spring time when it changes back to daylight savings time.

It is possible. My blackberry did not change time, when I had planned for the time change (that was my alarm clock). It got light at 6:30 and accounting for the time change to make it 5:30 for light to come. Therefore, I set my alarm on my phone for 3:45 to be in the stand at 4:30 (hour before light at 5:30). Well, 5:30 rolled around and the sky hadn't even started to break :D . I then knew that my blackberry didn't change.
