I had my doubts sitting in the stand this evening, extremely calm, quiet, no wind....the birds were not chirping and squirrels were not even moving! I normally don't see anything at all under these conditions.
I had just made a post on FB about the conditions and not 10 minutes later at fifteen till 4 this dude comes strolling by to my right out of the thick stuff. 50 yard heart shot and and 30 yard recovery, drug out, field dressed and in the truck by 4:25.
He only weighed 140 lbs field dressed and he is a river bottom deer. No fat what so ever on him and his left front leg had a huge knot about his knee and was bowed out like crazy, I never noticed it while he was walking. I had seen him Tuesday evening rite at dark walking out on the opposite side of the bottom about 3/4-1 mile away with no prior sightings of him.
Anyone care to age him ?
