Short barrels aren't inherently less accurate than long barrels. There is velocity loss. You may be good to go with your current set ups. Of course, a new firearm is nice .....
I took it a guy that has threaded all my other guns but he was saying there wasnt enough barrel there for the threadshttp://kampfeldcustom.com/boltfluting0914_003.htm
Check out the last line under "Muzzle brakes and muzzle threading"
I had him do a ss ruger sporter weight 358 win last summer and it turned out awesome.
He's correct but there is a way to do it, it is just not the standard way.I took it a guy that has threaded all my other guns but he was saying there wasnt enough barrel there for the threads
Iv got a rem 700 6.5 creedmoor I'll let go 865-748-6680Looking for a bolt or AR in 6.5, .223, .243, 22-250 that I can use exclusively for hogs and coyotes.
I already have an AR in .223 and .300BO but they both have a shorter barrel so I worry about accuracy.
I recently took my .243 to have it threaded but was told me barrel was too thin.
Hopefully one of you guys have something you let go?
I don't need a scope. Bare gun unless you are selling with a thermal already in it.
Coyote tan bull barrel thrived less a box shotIv got a rem 700 6.5 creedmoor I'll let go 865-748-6680

I guess it all depends on the competency of the gunsmith. It's not a complex solution but it does take a capable smith.I would just buy another gun. I had a Browning that one gunsmith said he couldn't thread. A different one assured me it would be no problem with a thread adapter. Its been a disaster and barrel is unusable.
Who did you take it to?I took it a guy that has threaded all my other guns but he was saying there wasnt enough barrel there for the threads
Southern Precision Rifles (Bugholes)Who did you take it to?
Had them cut down my Tikka 6.5 creedmoor to 21" so they could have enough meat to thread but I like the barrel that length so it wasn't an issue.Southern Precision Rifles (Bugholes)
Yeah they did the same on my 300 win mag.Had them cut down my Tikka 6.5 creedmoor to 21" so they could have enough meat to thread but I like the barrel that length so it wasn't an issue.
How thin was it for them not to thread it. They done 2 for me but went to a smaller size and I had to get adapters but it wasn't a big deal for me.Southern Precision Rifles (Bugholes)
I wish bugholes would have offered this styleWhat mine looks like that I mentioned above. Kampfeld is a badass smith.View attachment 309779
