Threaded barrel

Any custom work is going to cost a pretty penny, regardless of how easy it is. Plus, a lot of gunsmiths are backed up for months to years.

I would say a pre-threaded barrel would be the way to go.

I just had a couple of rifles done a month or two ago. It cost me about $125/ea, with no thread protector included. Plus gas money to drive, sit and wait for them to get done. I'd buy one that's already pre-threaded to start. Or, if it's a pistol just replace the barrel. My 10/22 I bought a barrel off ebay and installed it myself. Pretty sweet with a Banish 30 or 46. The most noise you hear now is the action closing on the 10/22 or the Ruger 22/45.

I want one for my mid-90's Buckmark too, but for the price a new barrel makes the most sense. My Buckmark just shoots so good that it seems almost criminal to take the barrel off.

I just went ahead and got a pistol with a threaded barrel.
