Lots of hunters try to shoot mature backs as a goal. Mature being 4.5 plus. Lots of younger bucks do get taken but it's a great goal to have. And I'm not that great at it even though I have killed several mature ones. I killed a 2.5 yo 7 point this year just because he blew at me 20 too many times. LolSee your dentist twice a year, floss every time you brush and brush twice a day.
Why is the age so important? See that a lot here. Curious.
I agree with your statement but i personally feel maturity starts at age 5.5. Deer can make a big jump between 4.5 and 5.5. I am posting pictures of splitz, a 4.5 yr old buck i passed last yr, and him at 5.5 this yr. i think he added 25 inches. Picture with 2 bucks is from February. Other 2 are from 3 or 4 weeks ago. The other deer in the photos is buck named high and tight. I passed him last yr and he got killed opening day of bow. He added about 15 inches.Lots of hunters try to shoot mature backs as a goal. I'm not exactly a trophy hunter. So age nor horns are important. Just seeing how accurate the age was between the teeth and the body pictures. Outside of that, I personally don't care.See your dentist twice a year, floss every time you brush and brush twice a day.
