thoughts on squirrels

any of you boys annoyed by squirrels while you were in your deer stand this last weekend. next time i may just take my air rifle and leave my bow at home they seem to be attracted to people in camp. not sure if they did or not but i felt like they my have kept the deer from moving in. they were making insane noise. i hate squirrels.

Squirrels won't keep deer away unless you alarm them. If you sit still, you won't alarm them.
They are good at making sure that you sir still

Take the air rifle. That way you are guaranteed NOT to see any. I usually take mine and never see any when I do. As soon as I leave it in the car-----SQUIRRELS!

I like the squirrels.They'll sometimes let you know when a deer is coming.It seems like most of the time they really bark at bucks.I guess they're probably making a ruckus rubbing trees,and generally making more noise than a doe.The little birds will give the deer away too.

They do drive me nuts sometimes, but over all I enjoy watching them. Especially a big fox squirrel that will come over to check you out and sit on a limb 5' from you and bark and look, bark and look. Had one do that to me one day and about made me bust out laughing. He would look then look away over and over. I never moved a mussel and I guess he couldn't figure out what I was.

They do help pass the time on stand during long sits and keep you on your toes.

They don't bother me too terribly bad, I hate it when some noisy songbirds get into an argument close by and makes it impossible to hear anything walking in the woods. Squirrels walking on the leaves may sound like a deer at first but there's a slight difference and a squirrel helps to keep me alert when I'm dozing off in the stand

don't mind them except on the those extra quiet, cold days when the leaves are extra crunchy and you could hear a pin drop. I usually end those days with some kind of backache or my neck hurting because Im looking around so much anticipating its deer coming in!

Squirrels aren't that bad about making noise. They usually stop barking after a few minutes. The ones that annoy me are Chipmunks. They will chirp for an hour straight, then all their buddies join in

That's to funny!! But it's the truth! But sometimes I will pop about 5/6 sitting in the stand with my air riffle! Man it's so much fun!! they never see you then..... dead!!
