Bowhunting I generally as a rule do not hunt I the rain, due to not wanting to
Have to track in the rain, and possibly lose a animal...risk
Is not worth the reward. Does anyone have experience ML hunting in the rAin? Is is a bad idea as well? Also looking for tips on keeping inside the barrel/breech dry? I know some just looking for what else is out there with all the knowledge on here.
 
Rain doesn't bother me. If I want to hunt I'll be out there. As for keeping your barrel dry, put a piece of electrical tape on the end to keep water out. To keep the breech dry just keep it under some clothing. I always carry my tree umbrella if its raining as well.

I've done it in a ground blind a few times. I just don't like to take a chance on wounding one and finding it, so I'll take whatever is the most effective legal means. (Elephant Gun, small Cannon, etc.). :)

The first time I saw a "tree umbrella" advertised, I thought, "That has got to be the dumbest 'hunting gadget' I've seen yet." Then I got a chance to use one, and I now believe the tree umbrella is one of the most brilliant hunting gadgets yet invented! I ALWAYS have a tree umbrella in my hunting pack.
 
i've killed two nice bucks in a an absolute monsoon hunting with a mz. rifle fired just fine. i had put electrical tape over the muzzle and i slipped a small piece of rubber tubing down over the nipple and cap.
 
I went out this morning and saw a deer early. Couldn't tell what it was but, it was a big bodied deer. It started pouring down on me and got the heck outta there. I need to build a shooting house super bad. Maybe tomorrow........
 
I hunt in the rain regardless of weapon as long as its not an absolute downpour with lightning. Older deer will move very well in the rain, I have saw and killed some of my best during or very close to a rain.
 
I won't hunt in heavy rain because I want a reasonable chance at blood trailing, if necessary. I won't hunt in steady rain of any kind while bow hunting, since the blood trail is usually much more important in those situations.

That said, I love hunting a drizzle/light shower during firearms seasons. I wear breathable rain gear, knee boots, and typically still-hunt through areas. In tight spots, I'll get beneath a tree for a bit of cover. I have a pop-up blind that I'll be using this year (finally) to combat the weather, if needed. I hunt mostly public land, so I don't have access to shooting houses except once or twice per year.

Be out there tomorrow, figured if I got one day to hunt and I want to make it count the cold front moving in should make the morning productive.
 
I have done it many times and one of the best bucks I have seen around here was in a blinding rain. I was getting out of my tower stand to get under it it was raining so hard when my buddy across the field shot. I looked and a good 8 pt came through the rain just out of range for me.

I killed a good doe opening day of archery a couple of years ago in the rain.
