Thorny cyprus 4

Never been to any of the draw sights out west and just wondering if anyone had some insight. I drew thorny cyprus #4 for opening weekend and was just curious what to expect? Any ideas how much water is typically in that hole plus anywhere that i can keep my dog and still hunt? Any info would be appreciated as I'm going irregardless just trying to figure out what to expect. Thanks in advance.

Truth be told it is not a very good pool. We use to always put in for pool 2 and had some good hunts late in the season. I have seen pool 4 with no water on it for the opener and other parts of the season. I would give the WMA manager a call and ask the week before your hunt if the pool is holding water. They will pump some but as dry as West TN is it could soak in over night and you have no water at all. There is a line of trees in the middle of the field that most people set up on and should be able find a spot the dog can stand. Most of the pools are never more then 18-24 inches of water in the deepest part and most of the water will be less then that.

My personal opinion I would not drive 30 mins to hunt that pool let alone from the other side of the state.

Thanks for the info on the pool. As far as not going, pretty much anything is a better option than east Tennessee, lol.

Dry ground is not! At the very least make sure to call the regional office TWRA Region 1 Office (West Tennessee) 1-800-372-3928 or the area manager and make sure the pool is holding hunt able water. Im sure if it has water you will see some ducks fly by and might kill some. But my worry is that the pool will not have water for your hunt as dry as it is in West TN. Almost every blind I will plan to hunt this year are bone dry and most are in bottoms and swamp land that normally hold several feet of water year round.
