This Mock Scrape Thing...

I just found this picure of a mock scrape I started on the banks of O. Hick some years ago. I started it with my own urine in turkey season and this is how it looked in October.

Use em both. No telling what that would lead to. Case you missedit, there has been quite adiscussion re human urine on this forum lately. Concensus of opinion was-let er fly. And yes, lots of folks know the biology of it.

I asked the same question to bsk and he informed me that he had only ever found that it worked with male urine. He said that it had to do with the testosterone in male urine that is lacking in the female stuff.

It appears scrapes are far more about male-to-male communication and influence than originally thought. I really don't think scrapes have anything to do with "finding estrus does."

I have tested female urine from all phases of the menstrual cycle, and it produces very little results. Male urine, especially from males with high testosterone levels, produces best.

I do believe BSK has done about everything possible when it comes to making mock scrapes. A few things I won't even mention....His final assessment was male urine works the best and you will get different results from person to person depending on their testosterone levels. Again this is just from memory of his posts over the years not trying to speak for him...

I am currently testing this theory. My daughter was itching to go to 'The Deer Woods' as she calls them a few weeks ago. Sure enough we start walking the trail and she has to go. I made a mock scrape and she happily peed in it. Momma wasn't impressed at all....

Sounds crazy, but when I make a mock scrape--for research purposes--I need to know exactly when I created it. So I always set up the camera first to get an exact "creation" time stamp and date!

I would say make sure the date and time are correct on your camera first...it's not 82 on 1/1/08 and green leaves

Yeah, unfortunately that camera had a date-time problem. Every time it was turned off and on, it would lose the set date and time and revert back to the default. Sometimes I hate electronics...
