Basically what happens when I hunt a cold, dead, calm morning. Absolute worst time to hunt IMO. Wind is your friend, I like some wind.

I agree that cold is king but for some reason I find that if it's overcast and devoid of wind the deer movement is slower...if it's blue sky's and devoid of wind they move well...throw a little wind in there and they woods come alive!!!

I saw 3 at my place yesterday, about 100 yards but bowhunting. Saw 4 on public land the day before, shot one, and the day before that saw 1 on my place and shot an arrow over her back. They have been moving even with the warmer temps, but nothing like what I was hoping for. I had envisioned cold December evenings with big groups of does coming out into the field where I set up a lockon and even planted some oats. Deer have been spotty at best in that field. I always liked hunting woods anyways, fields are just good for video

I can't hunt today but will be out in the morning. Not sure where yet

Well I came out at 9:30, had to go to work but I never did even see a squirrel, this may be the first time I didn't see a squirrel ever.

It's been the same for me all morning also. Except I have some wind too. I've only seen birds.

I'm the opposite. Cold and calm, is great. wind is ok so long as it stays below 10 mph.
