A bolts have the sloppiest action of any bolt action rifle I have ever seen. I would prefer the savage over one any day.

HH I dont know what sloppy Abolts you are talking about, in 30 years of selling them and owning as well "sloppy action" is'nt a description I've EVER heard used to describe them. Now out of the box they arent Sako or Steyr "polished glass" smooth but they are CONSIDERABLY smoother than stock Wins, Rems, Savages, Rugers etc... SLOPPIEST of the sloppy has to belong to the SPS Walmart 700s, straight out of the box they feel like someone crushed cement in them and the bolt will waggle like Fidos tail. NEVER seen an Abolt that way, even ones abused for decades.

i have had an abolt 270 and it was a great gun but as it stands as of late savage is making some of the best on the market, and remington is starting to slip if you read a lot about the reviews people are writing about them. i personally am a marlin bolt action man but i give both rifles their dues. both are quality weapons and either gun would be great. i would go with the bigger boom in my personal opinion though. but my abolt had some of the best shot groups i have ever had in my life.

When you open the bolt, you can wiggle the bolt up and down a quarter inch or more. I had one, and while it was a beautiful gun and shot well, I couldn't stand the slop in the bolt. Winchester CRF are way smoother than the brownings, no contest.

i must say though i have never been big on the winchester brand.

You asked our opinions. I love my Browning and haven't experienced the slop mentioned above. I dislike the looks and feel of Savage rifles. I prefer short action to long action. I prefer the 270 WSM caliber to the 7 Mag.

No contest for me.
