So I've been wanting to do some coyote hunting but don't have a clue about it... Do I have to wear orange? Do you hunt out of a stand the ground our walk around? And any other newbie tips you might have?
Thinking about giving it a try.....

I started out with a rabbit distress mouth call. I watched some dvd's about predator hunting to see what sounds they produce. If I see one during deer season and dont have a call I have called several coyotes and a few bobcats just making some awful squealing. And I will hunt them anytime right after any bush hogging is done.

no deer stands. to coyote hunt effectively you got to be able to play the wind. so many hunters approach coyote hunting with a deer hunting state of mind: hunt one farm, day after day, from a stand or a blind, and hunt any time you can go. those concepts do not transfer well to yote hunting. yotes have very large home ranges. to be effective, you need to have several farms in a given area that you can hit and make 15-20 minutes sets (using the wind) and then head to the next one. dont go if the wind is howling, if it is warm, or if there has been disturbance done to the property, they are much smarter and have sharper senses than a whitetail and one heck of a memory. The worst thing u can do is educate one. u have to be near perfect in your setup. remember they kill for a living, they understand deception
