Thinking about changing bullets

In the past I've used Powerbelts for my .45 caliber CVA muzzleloader. And I've used Knight Spitfire (by Barnes) in my .50 cal...also a CVA.

I'm thinking about using the .45 cal again. Anyone use .45 caliber muzzleloaders? If so, what bullets do you use--and how do they do on deer? I know .45 cal bullets are not as common as the 50 cal.

I'm also thinking about changing bullets with my .50 caliber...looking at either the Hornady XTPs or the TC Shockwaves. Any opinions?

XTP'S have killed alot of deer.

i absolutely HATED the T/C Shockwaves.. just my opinion. very accurate but experience with blood wasn't good. on multiple accounts
just switched to Barnes Expanders

I used the SST's last year but not happy with the group. They did a number on the deer I shot. Switching to Barnes this fall and ratsnakeboogy suggested to use Harvester blue sabots but go with the smooth ones. I noticed the sabot on the Barnes and SST's are the same sabot and didn't fit overly tight in my Encore.

Harvester Smooth Blue sabots shoot very well out of the .45s I own with the Barnes 195gr. Expander.

For the .50s I use Harvester short blacks, or full length Crush Ribs with Barnes 250 or 290 TEZ.
