Fish a private lake built in 1907 and stocked with nothing but Brook Trout and Arctic Char. Fished very little. Czan fish from boat or bank. Bear hunting an extra. Talk about peace and quiet.

Not very costly and the mosquitos are free. The original lake with a small lodge was built by William Randolph Hearst. He ran a railroad in just to bring the char in some sort of water filled vats. Then he destroyed the rail line. The lodge is still usable. That is ne of the places Patty Hearst hid out when she was on the run.
It is part of area that is now run by Adair's Wilderness Lodge. They have a big modern new lodge but still use the old one for special parties and allow fishing on the lake in limited amounts-all catch and release except a couple for a meal. Lake is about 50 acres and cold as an ex-wife.

It is superb and the food at the main lodge is 4-star. You can put a group together and rent the old lodge. It sleeps 10 comfortably and has a fully equipped kitchen and all the ammenities. It is just old and rustic.
Place is about 20 miles outside Shepody NB, 45 miles from the Bay of Fundy. Scenic with close to 100 miles of hiking trails and stream fishing and ice cold stream to swim in...very briefly. Bear hunting is first class and bird watching, which I don't do on purpose, is among the top in the country.
It is where I went to escape. Ran into Bill Gates there one time and some guy named Travolta another. Talked to Gates, didn't talk with Travolta. I ended up working there for about five years working with bear hunters and eating lobster and fiddleheads. Caught a ton of fish and killed my biggest bear ever, there.

The top picture is the old lodge and lake, the bottom is the new lodge with cabins etc. Both are surrounded by 212 sq. miles of Canadian bush. I shot these from a helicopter while starting out to look for fourlost hikers.
Just for clarity, I was a passenger on the chopper, not the pilot. I can't fly a kite. I was just adding another set of eyes. Turned out, they were not lost, just lost track of time and missed the return to the bus or something.
