I used a 50% Gly 4, 50% water mixture in a squirt bottle. I hacked pretty deep with a hacthet, and made sure each hack was full of the mixture. This was done in mid to late September.
The trees were mostly white oak, with a few hickories, maples, and tulip poplars mixed in. I killed the oaks only because I had a few of them left scattered in my food plots when I had them cleared several years ago (I thought it looked good to have some oaks scattered throughout the plots). After a few dry summers, I quickly realized how much water the tree's roots sucked out of my plots. From now on, I will not leave any trees in my plots except for fruiting trees around the borders.
