Been a rough year..seen this 10 during muzzleloader , shot him he dropped, got up ran off falling everywhere, never found him. 2 days ago I thought finally.. Here is my 2nd chance.
.. .. He comes by I get ready to shoot and wouldn't u know it, just my luck.

he got his butt whooped he is now that. So I let him go.
So yesterday morning I see this what I thought was shooter because of his thick decent tined rack so I shot..



Well he never looked in my direction so I didn't know he was only 11 inches wide. .. But o well, it's a done deal now lol.. He is a dead deer. Bad part about it. I think he is young. He could had been a big one. It will still make a nice euro mount.
 
Spread doesn't affect my decision on taking a buck, pretty much just age, that deer has some great mass, congrats

Sometimes that is the price paid for the ground check method. All you can do is move on. That buck did have some mass!

Question... So the buck you passed on that was broke off was the ten you shot back in muzzy?
 
No two diff bucks. We have had pics of both bucks all year sometimes together. And 2 different shape racks

my second biggest buck was only 13" wide... almost didn't shoot him, because it threw me off. One of the only deer that had 'ground growage' after I got to him :) He was 182"
 
I know the exact feeling. I tagged out on a stud....ugh well he was a stud when I pulled the trigger,not so much when I got to him. Split second decisions are tough for me. I had passed 4deer bigger than the one I shot throughout the season. Ohh well live and learn. I see why you shot him.
