This guy showed back up. His buddies have been absent for 3-4 weeks now so I'm really excited to see what they look like. I'm hoping this guy is young.

Great buck! If he is not inside a high fence, you better hope he's on a leash. 99% of TN deer hunters are shooting at him if they get an opportunity. I suspect he's at least 4.5 from those two pics. Best of luck with him this season.

He's an Ohio deer but even in TN I watched several young giants live. The Ohio part is why I hope he's young. One buck limit and there's two that should be quite a bit larger in the area

The unfortunate part of the TN giants I used to follow-a lot of them peaked at 4.5. Up here they seem to peak at 5.5-6.5

I think Andy is spot on with 4yrs. But you're right in that they peak older up north. Not only peak older but seem to age slower and live longer on average. It's a subtle but obvious difference you see after some experience in both regions. I don't know if it's environmental, genetic, or what but it is a real difference.

thats a stud! only 2 tn bucks i can recall i was hunting that made big jumps from 4-5. both put on about 20". usually i see a 5-10" increase on average in 4-5 yo deer
