So they were giving these things away at BBQ Fest. The rep was in the Home Depot area where all kinds of products were on display. Dude was handing these out, and added a ThermaPen instant read thermometer to my schwag bag. I was finally able to give it a run, and let me tell you how awesome this thing is....
The Spike itself is waterproof, so it's easy to clean. The app is easy to figure out, and it's really easy to keep up with a long cook. My first run was this pork belly "porchetta" at Memphis Italian Fest last weekend. The readout gives the ambient cooker temp, the meat's internal temp, and the appx. countdown time to target temp. This thing was great. And the porchetta was beyond spectacular too.
