This is my first archery season useing a thermocell and I must say,I have been missing out. Yesterday evening I hunted in a short sleeve shirt and no face mask on and I don't recall hearing the little buzzing sound of a mosquito landing on my ear to bite me.Nor on my arms. They are worth the money, now I just gotta figure out how to refill the little butane tanks, because they do not last the 12hrs.

Used mine for the frist time ever yesterday. I bought one 3 years ago and just carried it in my pack, we usually had a decent frost or 2 within the first couple of weeks of bow hunting in WI.

It worked awesome, I was really impressed.

I been thinking about buying one but I only kill about 20 skeeters a year since I moved up here. If I still lived in Louisiana I might need 2 thermocells. It was common to kill a thousand skeeters a hunt

They work most of the time but I swear the skeeters were laughing at it yesterday. I still got some bites.

Used mine for the first time yesterday . All I can say is its awesome . But it did put off a scent . Wondering how that effects the hunt when using it.

I haven't hunted in a couple of years. But bow hunting is my passion. The first time I used thermocell was right after it came out. Hunting with a buddy in the loosahatchee bottoms. The skeeters were big enough to stand flat footed and breed a poodle. After about thirty minutes my buddy said he'd had enough and went back to the truck. Me....not a single nibble. I set till dark and arrowed a nice six point bout fifteen minutes before dark. I won't go in without out mine ever again.

Go to youtube and search for it. There are tons of videos out there that show you step by step how to refill.

I first time using one was quite a few years ago. I was bow hunting in the hatchie Bottoms and had gotten in the stand a bit early, It was HOT. I remember looking down on my arms and both were covered in mosquitos. I had been used to toughing it out for so many years that I simply forgot about the new thermocell. After a little while I remembered it, pulled it out, lit it and place in on the stand beneath my feet. Simply forgetting about it at that point. It was not long that I looked down at my arms and ...NOTHING! There was not a black fly or mosquito buzzing around my ears and certainly not a single one on my body....I was sold. You young guys are lucky....I remember coming home one day with black fly bites (little red dots)all over my neck and arms and having to go to a company dinner with my wife that night.....She was great about it, but I felt bad. I looked like I had the measles...lol. I can not tell you how many days I spent getting eaten up .....you guys are indeed lucky to have never had to go through that..lol.

Mine worked great this weekend but it definitely had a smell to it. Do you think the smell is something to worry about? If I can smell, I'm pretty sure the deer can.
