One of my best plots has no cell service. Been thinking about doing this for a while, but finally got around to it. Cut a cedar tree, sunk it, attached a 2x4 to hang a grapevine and licking branch from, then screwed a 2x4 straight up with an external omni directional antenna. It's about 22ft up, now get 3 out of 4 bars on the cell cam and is working great!

Pretty crazy!

Thank goodness I don't use cell cams! Although, as a rule, I won't place a camera in a location I can't drive an ATV right up to, which means I've had to drive my ATV into some pretty crazy places so I can set a cam.

I don't normally say this to another man, but yours is way bigger than mine

That's awesome. I have one similar, a cedar tree that I left one branch on and put it in the ground like a pole. Mine only sticks about 5ft though lol. Dynamite scrape tree though, and what I didn't expect was that they'd turn it into a perennial/community rub like signpost. They rub it as much as they use the scrape.

There is zero cell reception here, had to get the antenna WAY up. AND, the cable is run into a 1/2in PVC along the cedar pole in anticipation bucks will be rubbing it to keep from destroying the antenna cable. Then cable buried under the ground about 2 inches going to camera.

12v battery with solar panel. Plan is to NEVER walk out into this plot to check camera until SD card is full.

Hope is any deer that triggers the camera up fairly close is going to accidentally capture any other deer even up to 150y away in other parts of the plot.

Major travel area surrounded by timber for at least 500y in every direction, and one of the primary food sources in the area. We have probably killed more 4.5y/o and older bucks from this spot than any other location on my farms.

And THIS, my friend, is why I prefer cams that accept SD cards with capacities greater than 32gb, which is the max card for most cell cams being sold today.

Most of my cell cams will take up to a 512GB SD card.

Lickily i have decent cell reception on all my cell cams. I like to put them out and not go near them until
Magic hour!
