Food Plots The Shade Plot Question...

So looking for some suggestions on a shade plot seed/mix. Have a 120x12' flat logging road in filtered light to shade.
Researched a bit. Seems like oats and rye are a good choice but also want to try ladino or some sort of white clover.
Any suggestions??

I planted Durana white clover on a similar location in February, and it has done very well. I have mowed it twice and sprayed twice with Butyrac and Clethodim, and it is still going strong. Lots of use by deer. However, the areas that are nearly full shade did not do well. It all came up very strong when the trees had not leaved, but since then the really shady areas have thinned out with clover. Some sunlight is necessary for it to do well. The good thing about it is that it is a perennial and will last for a few years. Oats and rye will have to be replanted every year.

The biggest problem with a shady plot is that the leaves that are shading it will fall off and smother the plot.

I used a battery powered blower today to clear out a spot in the woods for a micro-plot.
Worked surprisingly well, so I imagine one could be used to keep leaves off a smaller food plot.

Mix wheat/Oates in with the clover it will help with the leaf fall smother issue, not completely but it will help, depending on the type of leaves and how many you have.... you may still have to get in there and rake/blow the leaves out..... i have a spot that is semi shaded with Maple trees i usually don't have to worry much about it, the wheat seems to hold the leaves up off the ground enough that the wind sweep them away.....
