Has anyone experienced the rut yet? Has anyone killed with a buck in rut? Saturday afternoon I had 2 bucks come out to 9 does and chase the does around I'm thinking pre rut.i also grunted and it got the bucks to come in just no shot. This is in east tn to

I seen 9 does Sunday morning ad there wasn't a buck with them. Sat night on my camera had bucks still running together I'm in middle tn

The 2 bucks came out together but the bigger buck started pushing the smaller buck away and then he went after the does and kept curling his lip and chasing

Dang sounds like it's starting around you. Crazy though since usually it's west to east from my experience, but whenever the does go it's on

That's what I thought to but they seem like they didnt want any part of him but the 2 bucks didnt want to leave them until I grunted aggressive then they came running in but stayed to my right with no shot then it got to dark

Not even close for the areas I hunt. I've had reports of bachelor groups of good bucks (3.5+) being seen this past weekend from the TN/KY line, all the way south to TN/MS line.
 
Maybe the false rut preceding the actual rut 2-4 weeks. I suspect it starts real slow and spotty prior to what we perceive is the rut.
 
Same thing happens every year around this time. The bucks start getting antsy with the cooler weather and shorter days. They'll start pushing does around and establishing the pecking order but you're looking at the week of Thanksgiving before it's full bore on that end of the state.
I watched 3 bucks come out and feed in a green field this morning in NW TN right next to 6 or 7 does and neither the bucks or the does cared a bit that either one was there and the real deal for sure happens earlier here than on the east side
 
When you see 2 or 3 big bucks trailing a doe then you can say it getting heated up. Maybe 2 1/2 weeks away in Kentucky and northern Tennessee.
 
I'm betting around Nov 8 things should be in full swing in Montgomery county. If you are in northern middle TN, hunt all you can Nov 8 to Thanksgiving. That should be the best time to get eyes on a mature buck during daylight.

I watched a spike a week and a half ago run a doe ragged for a while. She didnt try to chase him off either and her tarsals were colored up. I don't think this was rut by any stretch of the imagination but it gives me intel to that one particular area as to when the actual rut will take place. (About 28 days later). This intel gathered in one single location cannot be used as a blanket statement for the region however. That's why it is so important in October to have eyes on the deer herd. You can very well estimate the peak rut in your hunting location based on observations from the month prior...

Buddy's son killed a 2 1/2 year old 9 point 2 days ago with black, stinky tarsals. The young ones are running Does hard already here. The old guys know what's up though.

This is in Weakley, Carroll and Henry counties.
 
Here in Montgomery County I am still seeing the bucks in bachelor groups. In person and on my trail camera. The only time so far this year I havent seen more than1 buck at a time was Sunday while I was hunting Fort Campbell. I had a basket racked 6 pointer milling around my stand for about an hour by himself.
 
A spike was running 2 does yesterday in my front yard just grunting and harassing them to death. Saw two big boys hanging together feeding the day before with no interest in anything but food. Where I'm at it's usually hot two weeks before thanksgiving and a week after.
 
Made a mock scrape today and hung a can. I suspect activity will pick up soon
