I'm starting to see some action pick up over on the Westside the last couple of days from the posts coming in. Seems it hit here on the Eastside first, and now it's coming on with the other end of the state, and even middle Tn. I know it was just dead out at my place this weekend. Seems like the rest of the state is about on par from previous seasons, but out little area seemed to have popped about 2 weeks earlier than usual.

Saw a spike chasing a doe in southern middle opening day but sightings are WAY down because of heavy wind and rain.

I feel east tn were I hunt is just coming in to peak. Saw no scrapes in muzzle load. Seen a lot this weekend and fresh rubs with shavings still on the ground.

Bedford county. Saturday morning saw does but not bucks. Saturday evening before dark saw 1 buck pushing doe into evergreen trees.
Some big deer taken in northern part of county.

Southern middle has left me scratching my head this year. Have hunted hard since Wed (should have been on fire) and saw one spike and one 8-pnt.

Haven't seen any action in my neck of the woods. We haven't even seen any of our shooters since the opening day of ML when my dad took his 13pt. Going to hit it hard starting this Tuesday through Sunday. Hoping there is more action and to get on the board soon.

Rutherford (Readyville) and Cannon (Woodbury)have been slow. I see does and fawns together still at sometimes. See bucks alone, but mostly feeding. I was encouraged to see a doe and a fawn feed in front of me Saturday AM and then when they went away a buck on the other side of the power line popped out and made a b-line for the area that they went into, but he was a small 6 pt.

My brothers place in Wilson (Lebanon) we see does together still and bucks are alone, except the big 8 he missed last week sometime was with a doe, but he left her in the front field and ended up going through a thicket and popped out in front of my brother, which is when he missed.

Steve, we saw the same thing as you with some doe's coming in 2 weeks ago but I am also seeing them still chasing as of yesterday, I think there were some early does come in during the start of ML but I think the majority are just now starting. The temps durring ML I think helped with the day time movement, now this warmer weather is gonna hurt us a the wrong time.

I killed a pretty 8 pointer, last Thursday, that was running a doe. His neck wasn't swollen, though, so he was just getting started. That was here in Jackson county.

Agree. The chasing I saw Saturday was awesome.

I killed a 5 year old 8pt that was pushing does but not really chasing... that was in Normandy (bedford co) then I shot a doe last thursday the 20th in beechgrove ....she was def in estrous...kinda disapointing thinking that could be one of my up a coming bucks but i did the deed before thinking....really thinking this weekend should be good

Hope you're right buddy. This IS the time right now that I normally see the hot does with bucks hot on their tails. I'm at work right now, after I was supposed to be off this week. Just can't justify going with such dead action right now.

Starting thursday im off for 6 days and plan to be in the woods most of the time, I hunted Friday evening and right at dark had a buck bust out of the pines running around crazy where some does had been a half hour earlier but never got eyes on him and I hunted yesterday in the rain and wind and did see one small 8 point nose to the ground around noon or a little later, I think its still on for this week... I hope.

Starting SAT I will hunt all day and will do morning hunts all next week if i can before work.

Friday/SAT 5th and 6th I will be in the woods all day.

I also like late season when bucks go back to eating and trying to beef back up from chasing.
