First off I want to say that I'm not a "real" deer hunter anymore. I used to be but, once my kids started hunting my enjoyment shifted to watching them hunt. I get the most enjoyment from "playing" on my 15 acre hunting plot that I've set aside from our 100 acre cattle farm. I work at improving it so that the kids stand a reasonable chance at seeing a good buck.
That being said, I have had a camera on the property 24/7 since Sept 11th of 2013 and it's taken 100's of pictures of coyotes, red and grey foxes, bobcats, wild hogs, and deer. Most all the bucks have looked just like this one...
Small spikes, or fork horns and mostly at night. So, imagine the joy when I finally got something bigger on camera...
No, he's no monster or even anywhere close to the biggest deer that I've killed but, this property is for the kids and he would make a real trophy for one of them.
Now, I just have to listen to all the fussing over who gets to shoot first this year. It's an argument that I don't mind.
