The challenge is to keep me warm.

I miss a lot of time in the woods just do to the fact I can stay warm enough. I am overweight which doesn't help. I am 5'8" 265 lbs

Sitting here in my living room right now in plain white socks my feet are cold. any colder I would have to put put on slippers or shoes as my feet will start hurting. I Have a ton of hunting cloths but they are ones from over the years and most do not fit. I need 2XL. I have read over and over its about layering your clothing right.

With me being big its important the layers be thin as possible or I will look like the Stay Puff marshmallow man.

I am sure I need some fleece and or merino wool. Last challenge is going to be coming up with enough money to put the new wardrobe together.

I hunt from a tree stand. mostly ladder stands or my summit goliath

Start with a high-quality base layer like Under Armour's expedition weight tops and bottoms. Use a mid-weight or heavy-weight polarfleece mid-layer (wool works well as a mid-layer as well). Top everything off with thinsulate and gortex outerwear.

800-1,200 gram thinsulate boots that breath (gortex denier outer material--not rubber or leather). Wicking liner socks with an second layer of heavyweight wool sock.

Make sure your hands and head are warm. If your hands, head and feet are cold, it doesn't matter what you're wearing, you will FEEL cold.

Sounds like you have poor circulation, might want to get it checked out, and that might be because you are overweight. Come up with a simple game plan and start excercising and watch what you eat....more can be lost by healthy eating, than healthy exercise.

Not sure how much money you have, but maybe go to the goodwill store and look for some double X stuff?

You can also add disposable hand warmers. Use the 3X5 size; one in each front shirt pocket and one in each front pants pocket. These will each be in close proximaty to major arteries and will help knock the chill off. If you're only hunting 1/2 day carry you a ziplock bag and seal them up. They'll shut off with no air supply. Next trip out take them out and they'll fire back up. This way you'll get twice the usage out of them.

Under armour base layer, then sweatpants or wader pants, then my camp works for me most the time. Then like today I put heavies on top of that.

As far as the feet go, what I have found that works best for me during the really cold days is to wear a boot that is atleast 1 size if not 2 sizes to big....This allows me to wear a "liner" sock along with some heavy wool socks and still gives me the ability to "move" my toes around and my feet to breath...
Keep your head covered, hands covered and your feet warm(er) and I think you will see a big difference in the rest of your body.

I also dress light if I know I'm gonna have a pretty good walk and pack my clothes in with me and dress before climbing in the stand or hunting on the ground.

Sleeping bag is my outer layer on the coldest days! It works for my feet as well.

I have 3.0 and UA Gunpowder pants and coat and was toasty all morning and it was cold!! 4.0 I would have been sweating!! Pricey but well worth the $$

1. Dress light going to stand - Your WORSE enemy is getting wet with sweat. I usually wear a light-medium layer of wicking thermals and a short sleeve shirt, regular pants. I wear one pair of wicking socks, and boots about 600 grams of thinsulate on cold days.

2. Buy your boots a size and width bigger. When you tie them, leave them fairly loose. Tight boots and tieing boots tight restricts your circulation to your feet, causing cold feet.

3. I carry with me to the stand - fleece vest, insulated coat and insulated pants. Also, I carry with me Boot Blankets for if my feet get cold. I carry these strapped to my stand - I hang them on screw in hook and put them on after I cool down, as needed.

4. If REALLY cold weather, I will put a handwarmer in each boot blanket to help keep my feet warm. I also have a knit face mask for cold days.

5. For REALLY cold days, I have an insulated "Hunting Bag". It is like a half sleeping bag that comes up to my waist and has shoulder straps. I drop a couple of handwarmers in and I am ready for the COLDEST of weather. I bought a couple of them on Ebay a few years back for $25. They did sell for around $150+. It is NICE!

This regiment has worked well for me. I cannot remember the last time I froze out.

Thank you all I now have to decide where to buy the gear. online where I can probably get it cheaper or make a trip to Bass Pro , Dicks or Academy
