Here are a couple of deer killed this year that also had sheds from last year. Both had the same food sources. The sheds were found fifty feet from each other.

This deer we believe was a 4.5 last year and a 5.5 this year. He only put on about 4 inches on his right antler. Ended up scoring 132 and some change. Good deer but didnt grow like we anticipated.

This deer on the other hand blew up. If both of his sides matched as a 3.5 he scored approximately 123" 8 point. At 4.5 he was a 154" ten point. Pretty cool how much he put on. Must have been taking some steroids or something.

That's a cool comparison. I dream of the day when I kill a buck whose shed I have from the previous year....

deaddownwind I know exactly what your talking about. It's amazing how 2 bucks living and even running together at age 3 1/2 and then turn 4 and one of them blow up and the other don't change at all. You'd think they'd have to grow some but they don't in all cases. We had 2 this year like that that didn't change at all hardly.

Thanks for sharing. These before/after pics are real confidence boosters when it comes to what can happen from 1 year to the next.

Very cool.

I think a lot of the extra growth in antler size this year, state wide had a lot to do with the amount of rain we had. Much more food available.

A birthday can make huge difference if people would give it a chance. But I fully understand not everyone is into that but it can be amazing what some deer can do in one year. That's very cool man.
