It worked out just great. Went to get the rock and woodbury co-op had them for $10 each. I bought 3 and my uncle bought 3,. that will cover me for all year. Dug up the clay and it wasn't froze,. easy diggin. Found the log in a pile left by logger,.. just rotten enuff and just the right size and had part of a hole in 1 side. Got it all loaded on 4 wheeler and headed to the northern property. I really like it better than the hole,.. maybe the deer will also.

The first pic is a hole in the ground from just laying the trophy rock on the ground. I don't like deer having to eat dirt to get minerals they need and don't like a pond forming for a mineral lick.
The second pic is the same hole filled in with a rotten log and surrounded by red clay. The log gets it off the ground and the deer will lick the rock and the log after it drains down onto the log. The red clay holds the salt and minerals better. Saltman gave me the log idea and BSK recommended the red clay.
 
That looks real nice. I may need to do the same. I never use mineral licks, but I just started using cams last year and I absolutely love it. Mineral licks oughta help me get some good pictures.

How big are the Trophy Rocks you bought for $10? I just paid $18 for a 16 lb one.
