for encouraging me to get the summit stand. I had posted a coule weeks ago abu getting a Goliath. I actually bought the Viper Ultra package from Cabelas, which is exactly like the goliath but comes with extras and cheaper.

I put it on a tree today and climbed and WOW what a difference. I thought my old Loggy Bayou was comfortable, but the Summit is like sitting in a Lazy Boy! And Boy does it ever grip the tree!

It sure is!! The viper and Goalith are differ,the goalith is just a tad bigger and then the titan is just a tad bigger than that..I love mine..Glad you like it..Makes those all day sits,that much easier.

I love my summit too....I am 6'3,285 and it does feel like you are sitting a lazy-boy.....they do grip too...i have trouble getting mine out of the tree after a hunt becasue the teeth sink into the tree....i would not trade mine for anything wait until you hunt out of it its amazing how much room you will have.....

Be carefull on beech or other smooth barked trees, though. The Summit's teeth don't grip that nearly as well as more grooved bark.

It's a scary feeling when you're climbing and suddenly the stand drops 6 inches. When it happens (two or three times in last 8 years) you never know when it will finally grip and stop sliding.

I second jakeway's comments. I foolishly climbed up into a big ironwood tree a few weekends ago and about had a heart attack when the top platform dropped around my ankles while I was turning around.

Climb trees with a decent bark texture - smooth is a no-go.

I have never found a tree mine wouldn't chomp down on and go up and down without a hitch.

Best stand out there in my opinion.

Watch out for the red oaks...mine wont let go, grabs em to well...lol

i agree with 44 the soft bark trees make climbing i night mare i cant get mine to let go sometimes mine really likes white oaks if available

mine likes all trees no slips yet.knock on wood
