Gave up on the powerbelts last year and started shooting the Barnes TEZ 250's.
My gun seemed to like them better but my wallet did not.
Now considering giving the Shockwave 250's a try.
Using 100 grains of Pyrodex in my CVA Buckhorn.
Any opinions?

I use them (Shockwaves) at smokeless speeds, but I and several others have had expansion problems (none or very little) at the speeds Pyrodex, 777, and BH 209 were giving me. If you hit the boiler room, shouldn't be a problem.

The way I see it and its just my opinion, I target shoot with the Shockwave/SST and hunt with the TEZ. Even if you kill as many as DA you are just out $30-$40 bucks. That's a drop in the bucket compared to what most people spend on just one day hunting.

Stalkhunter shot 1 in the front end with 1.under skin on back ham.long chase over the steepest part of the mountain.been a dead deer if it would have been a powerbelt imo

TEZ or Shockwave?

shockwave,Im thinking he shoots 110g of 777,I was shocked, deer are tough but dang ,the drag up the ridge was ugly,I was in charge of the rifles lol

ive killed several with 250 @ 2600 fps and 300 @ 2395 fps and several 300 @ 1709 fps 105 777 loose never an issue with sst

barnes is probably a better bullet but the tc/sst have a better bc for longer shot accuracy

i have killed several with 245 295 348 and 405 powerbelts in non smokless ml
id rather throw a rock at a deer than to shoot the 245 or 295 pb
the 348 is ok and the 405 lead hp powerbelt is the bomb and i use them in my sidelock percussion exclusively now

The two I have shot with the Shockwaves and 100 grains of BH209 have not impressed me. Exit hole was the same size as entrance hole and the wound channel was narrow. Still dead, just not what I wanted. They seem to just pencil through. One at 95 yards and one at 130.

the 300 barnes expander is bad @ 2400 fps i have killed 2 with it

X2 this is a killer bullet, shot extremely accurate as well. Killed a bunch with it & only 1 tracking job that a blind man could have done (30 yards) it looked like the ground was painted red lol.

Well sounds like the consensus leans toward the TEZ's.
Thanks for all the input and I will spend the extra for Barnes TEZ.
You get what you pay for.

Harvester PT Gold is an excellent bullet thats very easy on the pocket.....

That's what I've been shooting : )

They are a PITA to get though...you have to order them online. Im thinking about switching sabots to something I can pick up anytime like the Hornady SST.
